Chocolate Labrador Retriever (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Large
Bridget came into our rescue tonight 2/25/05. Her family could no longer keep her because their daughter is being treated for tumors. Keeping Bridget would mean risking their daughter's life, which cannot happen.
Bridget is about 1.5 yrs. old. She is very sweet, loves women, and absolutly beautiful!!! She also has good house manners. She is spayed, UTD on her vaccines, and on monthly heartworm prevention. Special Needs: Bridget does seizure on occassion, but they are not usually too bad and do not last long. According to her previous owner, she has seizured since a young pup. The seizures do not require medicine at this time. If the seizures become more frequent and/or intense and medicine is needed, phenobarbitol is usually prescribed and it is very inexpensive. When she seizures, you simply need to keep an eye on her if you are home, make sure she doesn't hit anything, and talk sweetly to her. Tell her you love her, tell her she's ok, call her name softly. You DO NOT hold her tongue. Leave an animals mouth alone when they seizure. Many times when Bridget seizures, you won't even notice b/c she is so still and quite. Sometimes it just looks like she's resting. If you examine closely, you'll see it is a short, small seizure. No biggie. She's fine, just has to work through it. Also, dogs who seizure are great with children or people who seizure. They usually alert you before your seizure starts, like an alarm. If they are going to seizure, they get antsy or pace and sometimes look for a safe spot to lay. Bridget's seizures do not cause her harm or to be different from any other loving pet. Just as they do, she deserves a loving permanent home. We would prefer her stay local to Columbia, SC. Please only inquire if you truly are interested. Pictures upon request (just haven't taken a good one yet). More about BridgetGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Kids Adoption saves lives! |
