**Lily's mom, Sarah, has to move soon and cannot take Lily with her.**

Sarah had this to say about Lily: I got her when she was 8 weeks old and have done all her obedience training myself - she knows sit, shake and other paw, down, stay/wait, roll over, crawl, and backup. She also loves games like hide and seek - whether it's you that's hiding or a treat you've stuffed in a crevice, she will spend as much time as it takes to sniff it out. The most amazing thing is having her smell a stick to get it's scent, then turning her away so she can't see where it falls, and throwing it into a brush pile - every time, she'll bring that stick back!

Lily heels on a leash (and even carries a backpack weighted with water bottles to help tire her out quicker), will sit calmly to eat until told to "go ahead," knows not to jump on people (although still does sometimes, if excited), is crate trained ("go to bed"), and is not possessive of anything - you tell her to drop it, and she'll put it down right that second, or tell her to "wait" and she'll drop whatever it is and sit (even in the middle of eating).

She is great in the car - sleeps quietly on the backseat (she's been on a trip where we had a 10 hour car ride, and she was perfect) - you do have to fast her the morning of a long ride because she has been known to throw up if she has a full stomach!

She loves every person and animal she meets - men, women, and children, she loves going to the dog park and playing with other dogs, and often plays tag with one of my cats; she does like to chase geese and ducks, though, and would swim forever to catch up to one if she could (and has tried)! LOL. We've taken her to the agility field a few times, and she LOVES it - jumping, tunneling, going up the ramps and across seesaws... She is so smart, and loves to learn new tricks and games. One that impresses my parents is when she picks an empty bottle out of the recycling box to play with, then will put it back in the box when told to "put it away" or "put it back!"

She is quiet, too, and doesn't bark non-stop. She will bark a bit if deer go through the yard or somebody gets too close to the house, but I like that (especially being that I've been living alone for the past few months) - but she will stop and stay quiet if told to.

As far as likes vs. dislikes - I haven't found a single thing she doesn't like. She is totally fearless and is always willing to jump right in to anything new. As a puppy, she was a bit scared of swimming, but now she loves it; if there's anything she's not sure about, all she needs is a calm voice and some encouragement, and she's all over it!

Taking a bath isn't her favorite thing, although she will stand quietly until you're done. And, unless you get water in her ears, she won't shake until told to. She lays and allows you to trim her nails, and I even Dremel her nails to smooth the ends out!

When at the vet, she is just happy to get attention. She was hit by a car once, and the emergency staff loved her - despite some serious road rash and a pretty good headache (no serious injuries, thankfully) she wagged her tail the whole time and just wanted to make friends! She's so sweet you can give shots or draw blood, and she couldn't care less!

Lily's only issues and how to handle them:

1 - she has separation anxiety when left inside alone. She does ok if crated, but if left out, she will go to the bathroom all over the place within about 1 minute of you leaving. She has NEVER been destructive, though - everything will be just as you left it, but there will be gifts on the floor when you come back. Even if she's left with another dog, she'll do this. As I said, though, crating has solved this problem for us. And we didn't feel so bad about crating at the time because we worked staggard shifts, so she was only alone for a max of 4 hours a day. Now, she'll be alone for 12+.

2 - running away. She doesn't bolt out the door or anything, so you can take her out off leash to do her business, to get the mail, or other quick trips outside, but if you drop your concentration on her for a second, she'll slip away before you know it! You have to constantly watch her and keep her distance in check. If she's playing in the back yard and gets really hyper or excited, she'll leap the fence and bolt, so we have to keep her energy level under control. We had a 4ft chain link fence, and that was easy for her to jump. I added an invisible fence to the top of it, hoping she'll keep away from the fence, but she learned that if she moves fast enough, she gets a small shock and then it's over. So, I'd say she would need a privacy fence.
