Waylon was rescued & adopted by a woman who sadly passed away soon after. He was surrendered to CARE by her family. He does well in a crate, walks well on leash, loves car rides, and is house trained. Waylon is food motivated & has learned to take treats gently. He is smart and does well with training.
Waylon would do best with an adult and as the only pet, no kids. He's sweet & playful, but used to resource guard toys & doesn't know his own strength sometimes. He can be protective of his person and home. He should be crated when company visits or work is being done on the house. He should not be introduced to people in his yard or home. Most likely, after a long period of bonding and building confidence in his home, Waylon will be able to have company and understand they aren't taking his person or home away from him.
Waylon loves an adventure, loves to be loved on, & keeps his nose to the ground often (would excel at nose work!). This sweet pea is also quite happy relaxing by himself or snuggling on the couch with his person.
Adoption Fee: $75
Waylon is currently living in a boarding facility. The staff love him dearly and try to spend extra time with him whenever they can. He deserves a forever family. He is heartworm negative.
A completed adoption application and home visit are required for approval to adopt a CARE dog. Out of state adoptions okay. All dogs receive a distemper/parvovirus vaccine(s), kennel cough vaccine, rabies vaccine, dewormer, monthly heartworm prevention, flea & tick prevention and treatment if needed, microchip, and are spayed/neutered through CARE.
The most accurate and complete information about available dogs can be found on our official website at www.caretoadopt.org. Breeds are sometimes known, but sometimes our best educated guess.
